DR.TONY LENEHAN
Head of Industry Standards & Quality, Fáilte Ireland

Tony Lenehan is Head of Industry Standards & Quality within Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority. He is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of Enterprise Development programmes and initiatives including the Optimus Programme within the tourism industry. He is also responsible for Fáilte Ireland's International Services and has managed EU projects in South Asia, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean.

Tony holds a PhD from the University of Surrey, a MSc in Management from Trinity College, Dublin and a MA in Management Learning from Lancaster University. His research interests include management learning and competencies in service organisations.

He has made several presentations at a number of national and international conferences and seminars. Tony is also a Fellow of the HCIMA and IHCI, a Board member of EuroChrie, and serves on a number of public and private bodies involved in tourism development.

He established the International Skills Training Project for Polish Nationals in Ireland and opened a similar facility in Poland in collaboration with the Polish Ministry of Labour and the Economy. He is the co-author of the book, 'Managing Quality in Tourism'.
