February 2011 Optimus National Awards

Fáilte Ireland’s Optimus National Award Ceremony was held at Castleknock Hotel & Country Club on Tuesday, 22nd February, 2011. The award recipients are listed in the attached brochure and related publicity can be found under the press release area of the website.

HRS Hotels Excellence Awards Britain & Ireland January 2011

The HRS Hotels Excellence Awards in Britain have been established for 4 years and are supported by the British Hospitality Association, the Institute of Hospitality and the Meetings Industry Association.

Amongst the categories assessed are Excellent Customer Service, Best Family Friendly Hotel, Excellence in Marketing and Excellent Social Responsibility.  Because of the synergy of these categories with the Optimus programmes, all Optimus awarded hotels were invited to participate for the first time for the 2011 Awards.


Amongst the 25 Finalists, five Optimus hotels were selected, with each hotel amongst only three others in their category.  The success of the five Optimus Hotel Finalists demonstrates that an Optimus Hotel can be benchmarked against the best in Britain.

Finalists: Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown, Dublin.
Knightsbrook Hotel Golf Spa Resort, Trim, Co. Meath.

Excellence In Marketing
Finalist: The Lake Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry.

Best Family Friendly Hotel
Finalist: Quality Hotel & Leisure Club, Clonakilty, Co. Cork.

Excellence in Social Responsibility
Winner: Westport Woods Hotel, Westport, Co. Mayo.

At the Awards Ceremony in Westminster, London on 26th January, 2011 all five Optimus hotels were singled out for a special mention for being successful in being one of three Finalists in their category representing hotels in Britain and Ireland. The event was made all the more celebratory by the Westport Woods Hotel receiving the award for Excellence in Social Responsibility.
