A total of 10 days for workshop and consultancy interventions will be provided as part of the Optimus Business Excellence programme. These developmental workshops and consultancy interventions will be scheduled at prescribed intervals over a period of eight to nine months during the development and implementation phase of the programme.

The training workshops will address the following topics;

Understanding the Business Excellence Model and the scoring criteria.
How to conduct a self assessment exercise using the model.
Identifying, classifying and prioritising of Areas for Improvement (AFIs) following the self-assessment exercise.
The establishment of Quality Improvement Teams to address the AFIs.
Appointment of team leaders and team members.
The identification of Functional Processes and the appointment of process owners.
Development of the management team on;

Leadership styles, corporate vision, culture and change management.
Policy and strategy development, including goal setting.
Functional processes and how to develop them.
Key Performance Results and benchmarking as an improvement activity.
Preparing the Business Excellence Submission Document.
The total cost of implementing the Business Excellence programme is €5,000 and this is payable to Fáilte Ireland in three phases. This fee includes:
Ten days of workshops and consultancy interventions.
Provision of the Business Excellence Booklet and three Business Excellence Workbooks (Foundation for Business Excellence; Towards Business Excellence – Inputs; Towards Business Excellence – Outcomes).
A range of other support material and templates.
Optimus Business Excellence certificates and specially commissioned trophy.
Optimus Certificates for the Business Excellence Co-ordinator and the Optimus Steering Group.
Recognition at the Optimus Awards Ceremony.
Media coverage of the awards recipients.
CDRom on Media and Promotional Guidelines.
